Compassion International: A Letter From Ankit…

Compassion International: A Letter From Ankit…

India, Compassion International

Dear Compassion International,

My name is Ankit.  I am 7 years old and live in India.  I live with my mom, dad, brother and sister.  We live in a house with one bedroom we all share.  We have dirt floors and no bathroom inside the house.  I can’t afford to go to school and must work to help buy food.  I need some more clothes and a good church.  My mom cries a lot because we don’t have enough food.  My dad is sad a lot.

I would love to have a Compassion International sponsor who could help me go to school and learn more about the bible.  Is there anyone who can help me?

Thank you,

Ankit

The above letter came out of the heart of my son when asked to put himself in the position of a child in need waiting for help.  The picture, courtesy of Pinterest, represents a child who we believe Compassion International is called to rescue.

The question remains:  “Is there anyone who can help me?”

Is there anyone who can help children like our fictional Ankit?

Are you the one?  Is there a child waiting for you, just for you?

I believe so.

Now, what to do…

  1. Pray
  2. Listen
  3. Act
  4. Trust

Pray ~ Ask Him if this is the ministry for you.  There are many wonderful causes around the world, all worthy of participation.

Listen ~ Is this the ministry for you?  Are you one HE’s chosen to help rescue and provide for a child in need?  Meditate quietly.  Listen intently.  Respond appropriately.

Act ~ After He answers “Yes”, head over to the Compassion International web page and click “Sponsor a Child”.  Again, pray…

Trust ~ When He leads you to the one, the child YOU ARE meant to sponsor, trust He’ll provide the means and the way.  Remember:

But I do not need the bulls from your barns or the goats from your pens.
For all the animals of the forest are mine, and I own the cattle on a thousand hills. ~ Psalm 50:9-10

If He asks, He’ll provide.  He owns everything, after all.

If He leads you to sponsor, PLEASE let me know! I want to celebrate along with you.

Wow! Your young man understands a lot! As a Compassion International sponsor of a girl in Honduras, can I say it is one of the most rewarding things EVER? The thought that a few dollars a month from me can make a difference in a child’s life is amazing. I’m praying more people will find a face they fall in love with an sponsor!

Yes, he does, Mindy! Missions ~ praying, giving and going ~ is a HUGE part of our lives. Alex has already been on the mission field twice and he’s only nine. He gets if and that’s awesome.
      Thankfully, we beat our goal!!
