Fourteen Ways in Fourteen Days ~ Learning To Love Intentionally Through Kindness…

{Way Two ~ Love Is Kind…}

Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, KINDNESS, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self Control…

The FRUIT of the Spirit.

The EVIDENCE of a communal relationship with him.

KIND words spoken…

Kind words are like honey–sweet to the soul and healthy for the body. ~ Proverbs 16:24 (NLT)

An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up. ~ Proverbs 12:25 (NIV)

KIND deeds done…

Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done. ~ Proverbs 19:17 (NIV)

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. ~ Ephesians 4:32 (NIV)

KIND care given…

But a Samaritan, who was on a journey, came upon him; and when he saw him, he felt compassion, and came to him and bandaged up his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them; and he put him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn and took care of him. On the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper and said, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I return I will repay you.’ ~ Luke 10:33-35 (NASB)

 KINDly restore…

Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. ~ Galatians 6:1 (ESV)

KINDly forgive…

For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. ~ Matthew 6:14 (NIV)

Bear with each other, and forgive each other. If someone does wrong to you, forgive that person because the Lord forgave you. ~ Colossians 3:13 (NCV)

 KINDly Encourage…

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NIV)

Love IS kind.  It speaks and demonstrates kindness.  It sets his followers us apart which allows us to point directly to him.

So…

  • Instead of “Hurry up!”, let’s ask “What can I do to help?”.
  • Instead of offering a passing word, may we offer ourselves.
  • Instead of walking by quickly, pretending not to see, may we meet the need in question.
  • Instead of tearing down, let’s restore.
  • Instead of harboring unforgiveness, may we offer forgiveness freely and willingly.
  • Instead of pointing out what’s lacking, may we encourage and upLIFT others.

Love is KIND.

What can we do to show just that?

Oh, my, Stefanie.  I’m so sad to say that I needed this humbling reminder today. Thank you.  I’ll be looking for opportunities to show kindness today.  Thanks, friend.

this is very wise.  i felt guilty about the “hurry up” phrase.  i do that quite often when i’m in a hurry.

Me, too, Pia!  I have to purposefully and intentionally remind myself to wait, be patient.  I’m always on the go and time is super important.  It isn’t, however, more important than my testimony.

Thank you for commenting!  I really appreciate your honesty…

I think I know what “kind” means, but then I read this and you open that word up even more. Thanks for peeling back the layers like this. Great work.

You’re welcome, Courtney!  It peeled layers for me, too.

Great scripture here Stefanie!  I think sometimes I need to take on some more kind words when speaking to my children when they are frustrating me with their slowness!

Thank you, Cherie!  Oh, friend… Last night I spoke a harsh word out of frustration and Alex fell apart.  Then, I fell apart.  It simply blurted out.  Yuck!  I asked his forgiveness and he granted it.  It was a sweet moment between a mommy and her son.

      Love you, friend!

All those random and un-random acts of Kindness… Kindness in our hurting world is so underrated. Wonderful reminders and scriptures :) Have a wonderful weekend!

I so agree with you, Kathleen.  Each summer at our camp, we have students that team up, go into the community and do random acts of kindness.  It speaks volumes, changes them and greatly impacts the recipients.

Have a blessed day, sweet friend…

I love the Scripture passages you have shared on kindness – powerful. I really need to be more intentional about forgiven others, especially the ones that are hurting me with their actions and words.
Thank you for your encouragement to be more kind, and sharing your grateful heart with us.
    Love & peace,
    Iris

Wonderful words of wisdom Stephanie!  Kindness is much  needed in our world today.  Too many people are so impatient.

Thank you, Debbie!  I couldn’t agree more.  At times, I feel as though people don’t know how to react to kindness when given.  How sad…
