UpLIFTing Weekly…

Welcome to the FIRST edition of “UpLIFTing Weekly…”  The purpose behind the “weekly” is to share with my readers other writers that bless me.  I am honored to follow many blogs via email, RSS, Google Friends and NetWorked Blogs.  Each writer I subscribe to is uniquely gifted, producing outstanding posts day after day.  I consider it a privilege not only to read them, but give them to others.

With that said, here we go…

the 4-letter word that stopped me

by Lara G. Williams at To Overflowing…

I like predictability. I like the same weekly schedule and things checked off my list. I like clean kitchen floors and the smell of pumpkin when I come through the door. I like for life to follow my plan.

But, that’s not the world we live in. This place we wake up to each morning is messy. People do things and say things and run through the house with muddy shoes. And pet bunnies can be stinky. It’s just life…

Good Girls Come Full Circle

by Emily P. Freeman from Chatting at the Sky…

The curtains in our bedroom are crumpled on the floor. The hardware gave way and shot slap out of the drywall. I tried to take it in stride, but standing there on a stool balancing one heavy-ended curtain rod while trying to get the other end to come out without scratching the ceiling, well. I cried a little. And clenched my fist tight like a toddler. Just one more thing not going right today.

I take close up photos of grass and plants and green living things because it helps me to remember to see. It is therapy to notice the beauty in the chaos of nature, to predict what happens next in the seasons even though each year it’s different, to believe in a God who holds everything in His hands.

Hiding His Word {replacing “me” with “He” series}

by Heather MacFadyen from God Centered Mom…

This series {replacing “me” with “He“} would be incomplete without focusing on the importance of memorizing Scripture. Remember this is not a religious activity to make you a better Christian. It is for your benefit.

When I am left to myself and my thoughts I spiral downward. The lies that I dwell on consume me. I am hopeless, frustrated, defeated. I lash out at those around me. My proud/self-centered thoughts direct my actions.

Thinking about Thought-Provoking Thursday

by Michelle Debenport from Some Girl’s Website

Have I ever told you the reason for thought-provoking Thursday?

Let me start by saying that I’m a sucker for alliterations.

When I started this blog I had a lot of thoughts to share (the main reason for starting a blog, right?) and I liked the idea of causing others to think… Then my good blogging buddy, Michelle of So, I Married a Mennonite (the same Michelle who encouraged me to buy the snapseed app mentioned in yesterday’s post… She’s pretty influential), encouraged me to make it a link up to let others come to share their thoughts.

I loved the idea but was nervous about opening it up and not having anyone join along.

Now, sometime later, I am thrilled each Thursday to have so many great bloggers link up their wonderful thoughts!

But, lately I’ve been wondering about you guys, my sweet readers…

Grace For The Good Girl: It Begins!

by Christina Gilliland from Momma Day By Day…

And so Grace For The Good Girl begins. In a masquerade. The girl in hiding. I was struck by Emily’s story of The Phantom of the Opera and how captivated she was by the grandeur of the masquerade scene. She sees herself in that party, hiding behind a good girl mask.

“My hiding was so clever that I had everyone fooled, including myself. The masks I chose to hide behind were not obviously offensive. In so many ways, the life of this good girl mirrors that of the party guests at a masquerade ball. My masks were nice. They were lovely. They were bubbly and likeable and attractive. They were the masks of a good girl. Yet, I hid behind them.” (12)
